PNX Metals Limited (PNX) is proposing to develop the Fountain Head Gold Project located approximately 170 km south of Darwin. The project is located on pastoral land at a site that has previously been mined and has been under ‘care and maintenance’ since 2008.
ERIAS was engaged by PNX to lead the project environmental and social impact assessment and prepare relevant documentation to support project assessment by the Northern Territory Environmental Protection Authority (NT EPA).
ERIAS’ coordinated baseline and impact assessment modelling studies including surface water, groundwater, geochemical, cultural heritage, air quality, noise, traffic and transport, and terrestrial flora and fauna. ERIAS personnel undertook aquatic ecology surveys at the site, including water quality assessment and a social impact assessment in accordance with NT EPA guidelines.
ERIAS prepared a notice of intent (NOI) and subsequently an environmental impact statement (EIS), including a supporting Mine Closure Plan and Water Management Plan. ERIAS also provided advice and support for PNX’s stakeholder engagement activities.
